A CONTEST FOR THOSE WITH “A COMIC IDEA” and “A COMIC FILM”!

2. Mint Academy Comedy Short Film Contest aims to support the creative works on cinematic level. The main reason it is a “comedy” short film contest is that the comedy genre is not used enough in short films. Another purpose of the contest is to support the making of new comedy films.

NEVER IN FRONT OF THE KIDS (TV SERIE 2003-?)

NEVER IN FRONT OF THE KIDS! is not just another TV show in Turkey, it’s a TV phenomena now! It started in 2001 in a minor TV channel, but turned to the greatest TV blockbuster ever in Turkey in a few months. Even its re-runs broke every rating record on Turkish TVs and the show became a tremendous success for the coming years. In 2004, the show had a break due to some casting problems, but when it restarted in 2010 it was still one of the bests on Turkish TVs.
NEVER IN FRONT OF THE KIDS! is about very little issues of a family in real life. Making ends meet at the end of the month, bringing up children, man-and-wife problems, business lives, friends, neighbors etc… Our show is as funny and as dramatic as the real life. There is a balance of semi-real life and semi-drama. Every spectator will say “Oh, that’s my father!”, “That’s my wife!” or “That’s my child!” as they watch the characters in this show. The show is about the marriage of a “real” man with an “ideal” woman. The show is told through the eyes of the male lead and he is simply in dispute with everything and everyone.

THOSE IN THE BACK ROW (TV SERIE 2007-2011)

This TV drama is about the growing adventures of a group of students at a high school in a poor district of Istanbul. There are gang fights, drug wars, friendship searches, family issues and many more problems at that high school; but there is also pure love, friends’ solidarity, education-oriented and giving teachers and everything in ordinary lives…

The school’s students can hardly go on to colleges, but there are still some young hearts who want to break the unlucky spell over their lives and there are families who struggle for the better days together with them…

OUR LESSON: ATATURK (MOVIE 2009)

This movie was written by Turgut Ozakman whose books about the recent Turkish history were sold more than 5.000.000 copies in Turkey. The film is a modest work which tells the young generations about the founding days of the Turkish Republic and how hard our founding fathers fought for a new and modern Turkey.
A group of students are trying to prepare a paper about the recent history of Turkey, but they realize that they don’t really know too much about their own history. Grandpa of one of the students is a well-known historian ad he starts telling the young about the history from the day Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was born and he tells all about the War of Independence of the Turks to found the Republic of Turkey…

THE LIAR ROMANTIC (TV SERIE 2008-2009)

A man who used to be a romantic, but he has been a husband for five years now! He used to bring flowers to his wife and whisper words of love to her ears, but come on, he is a husband now! He did everything to persuade her to marry him, or is it true that “marriage is the killer of love”?
The Liar Romantic is the sitcom of relationships between wives and husbands and how men and women change in time. It is the story of how they change, develop, go forth or go back, from time to time…

DADDY HEARS THE LAST (TV SERIE 2002-2007)

In this sitcom, we take a look inside the lives of an ordinary Turkish family again and we try to see the family issues caused by the growing up of the kids in the family.
Our family’s life totally changes when they move to a luxury villa as a twist of fortune in their life. Our family members are:
“I’ll Handle That” Kadir: A young man who causes another problem trying to solve a problem. His slogan is “I’ll Handle That” but nobody has ever seen him handling anything at all!
Mr. Kudret: Kadir’s unlucky father who always has to be on alert in order to survive against his son’s tricks.
Ms. Bahriye: The mother of the family who is exhausted of trying to be a bridge among the members of her family.
Hülya: Kadir’s wife who is trying to keep her husband from his tricky life, but can’t be very successful.
Many funny adventures lived by the family, their relatives and neighbors guarantee the audience an evening full of laughter…

NEVER REALLY APART (TV SERIE 1999-2004)

This sitcom is the very funny story of a couple who married in love and divorced in love. But, after the divorce, they each refuse to leave the house to the other and start living at the same house because of obstinacy.
The ever-quarreling mothers-in-law, their friend Mr. Get-Rich who always have ways to be rich on his mind (but can never succeed), Miss Serpil who is dying to find a rich man to marry, The Doorman who wants to have a career in show business, The Landlord who lives in nostalgia of Old Istanbul, Hussein The Tea-Man and his wife Emine, The Maid are the secondary characters who spice our show…
